Thank You!

Dear FlyLady,

Thank you so much for all that you do. I first started fluttering in early 2012 when I became a single mom, but moved shortly after and with my whole world turned upside down, many things from my routines went by the wayside. It didn’t help that I was living with people who wanted things done their own way. Until a few months ago.

I moved again, and am once again in an environment where I am in control. I have 2 male roommates, who both work days, and I work nights. They are more than happy to let me take the lead on housework. I decide what gets done, how, and when. But between work, my 3 year old, and my roommate’s 2 year old (who I watch a few days a week) I could not seem to maintain control. That’s when I stumbled back onto FlyLady.

It has been about 2 months, and I have never felt more relaxed or in control. I dug out my old daily routines from a file on my computer and looked them over. I still had a few of the habits, and others were no longer applicable or needed changed. Then I made a new routine. I started off with my existing routine (which already included the basics like getting dressed and keeping my sink) and added just one thing, my nemesis: the laundry. I started doing my Flight Plans again, and added one thing to my daily routine every other week. Now not only am I keeping up with the laundry, my hotspots, and my bathrooms (all 3 of them), but I have more time to relax and play with the children or read or whatever.

It is so wonderful to be able to truly relax everyday, knowing that the the days tasks will be completed and finally feeling like it’s ok that some things don’t get done sometimes. I even have the guys now in a habit that every time they walk from one room another, they pick something up to put away or throw out. Everyone is happy now, and while we still have a ways to go before I’m truly FLYing, the difference is noticeable and comforting to all of us. I have not felt overwhelmed about maintaining this house in weeks. Thank you.

Managing to flutter in Michigan,
Mackenzie
