August Habit #25 Moved Out Of My Parents

Dear FlyLady,

I’m so excited to be writing this testimonial! I’ve struggled with laundry my entire adult life! In fact, I haven’t had all of my laundry DONE (as in washed, folded, and put away) since 2005! YES! I remember the date! I moved out of my parents house and I have been buried under Mt.Washmore ever since! I’ve been fluttering since 2008 and laundry never really caught on. Until now, as a newly wed, I’ve realized, my laundry + his laundry = we had no place to live for all the laundry!

So, we took it in baby steps, washing, folding, and putting away 1-2 loads per day, every day! He teases me and says, “A load a day keeps chaos away!” as I frequently pester him to give me the clothes off his back, before he’s even done wearing them for the day. I’m so ready to do my load for the day and keep the chaos away! LOL.

I’ve cleaned off so many piles and put out so many clothing hot spots (HEY! Look! There’s a CHAIR under there!) and found so many clothes that I didn’t even remember buying! I donated so much, I filled an entire blue goodwill drop box with our unloved clothing and shoes! We did a 27-fling boogie a day until we could actually WALK in our WALK-IN closet.

What a great feeling! It’s still far from done, but we’re not going to let our perfectionism take hold; we’re so grateful for the space we’ve found. It is very inspiring to keep going with our baby steps!

The funniest moment about living without Mt. Washmore was the day my husband came out of the bathroom, after taking a shower and announces, “You de-cluttered away my shelf!” I looked at him puzzled, then he proceeded to explain, “The laundry basket by the sink used to be so full and overflowing, that I could use it as a shelf to put my clean clothes and towels on top of it while I showered, but now that all the dirty clothes are gone, there’s just a big empty space” LOL This means, our bathroom was so littered with dirty laundry that he had no place to put his clean laundry, except for on top of dirty laundry! When we de-cluttered all the excess laundry from the bathroom, he had to learn to hang his clean clothes and towels on the clothes hooks while he showered! LOL. What a crazy idea!!!

We’re so happy to be living with a little less chaos every day!
With so much love, One very happy new fly-couple!

Dear FlyLady,

I ordered a pack of Purple Rags recently and had prepared them for use as per instructions. I’m a paper towel to the maximum type and I purchased the Purple Rags with a bit of skepticism and a lot of anticipation (because of experiences with other FlyLady products).

I used them ”here-and-there” and was pleased BUT then I saw testimonials speaking of how they can shine surfaces because of one side being smooth and the other textured.

So I tried it on my stove top and on the burners!!! AMAZING.

One day, I played with each side on the surface of the white enamel stove top and the SHINE WAS BEYOND SHINE IT WAS GLEAMING. No paper towel has the capacity to do what the Purple Rag accomplished. THEN it was on to the burners.

You would think the stove top and burners were brand-new if there weren’t some tiny worn areas, that’s how good the effect is with using the Purple Rags. Moved on to the stove knobs, which do not detach, and the rough side removed dirt that before had seemed impossible to remove.

Thanks for a wonderful product, I’m going to slowly build-up a very good supply of Purple Rags. ALSO TRIED IT ON THE SINK — SAME THING — IT WENT FROM SHINING TO GLEAMING. I LOVE IT WHEN THINGS SHINE!

Thanks for great products.
