This is for all the new FlyBabies who may be wondering what “FlyWashing” is all about. I want to them what it means to me.
FlyWashing means that when I go to put something in a drawer and it doesn’t fit, I ask myself, “Do I need all this stuff ?” I’ll look through it quickly and I may find a couple of things that I can toss and another couple for the “give-away” box I keep in the guest room closet (and donate every week or two weeks).
FlyWashing means that when I shopping and find some cute little doodad I admire it – and leave it on the shelf. It doesn’t come home with me.
FlyWashing means that I take time to reflect on how far I have come, rather than stress about all the things that I need to do. I know that I will get to them.
FlyWashing means that I have a routine for handling those things that come up every day – the mail, the wash, the meals.
And, most importantly, FlyWashing means a huge attitude change. I am cleaning, organizing, taking care of business for me. All of a sudden, the martyred me is gone. I love the shiny sink, the clean floors, and having some room in the closets. So, I am rewarding myself.
