I just wanted to say (as many have I am sure LOL) thank you, thank you, THANK YOU. I have been following FlyLady off and on for years but just recently, decided enough is enough and I am taking care of ME first.
Depression is a horrible thing when you feel stuck-in-a-rut all the time and have no energy to change it (you think it’s too much work, nothing will change anyway so why waste energy you don’t have?). You seriously do not see how it affects everyone around you. It’s like you are in a self-induced coma, when you come out of it you wonder why everyone is acting so weird and you want them to go back to normal. But…what is normal?
I decided to change my mentality. I was angry all the time and I noticed so was my family, so… What happens if I try to be happy all the time (a real challenge let me tell you!) and spend at least 30 minutes one-on-one time with each family member, no interruptions. Wow. What a difference! Not only do I feel better about that person but I feel great about myself! The anger I was feeling all the time has reduced considerably (still a bit more to go but it’s getting there) and even my family is happier!
Well, all this started because I would drink a glass of water when I got up, I even have my family do it too.
I set my alarm for every hour where I take a break have a drink of water, do a stretch then check my list and refocus on my goals for the day. I have a glass of water before I eat my meal and have one with my snacks. I feel so much better and do not have the junk cravings like I used to. I have lost 8 lbs in 4 weeks and enjoy doing things with my family. What a difference. The chores that I hate doing, I set my timer and 15 mins later I am done.
They say 21 days makes a habit so hopefully water is my new healthy habit!
