February Declutter Mission: #3 Zone #5

Last day of declutter missions, let’s make the most of it! Time to get rid of all those old DVD’s or VHS tapes. Chances are you have at least two empty movie boxes, LOL. When I went through mine I had FIVE!

THANK YOU for instilling in me your habits and routines.

In December we had to do some crisis decluttering as my SO was starting home dialysis and a nurse needed to do a home visit to ascertain that the house was suitable (read clean enough) for home dialysis.  So we did some massive decluttering (mostly paper and clothing that we had shrunk out of) and then stashed and dashed the rest.  My SO’s papers had taken over EVERY horizontal surface in the kitchen to a mean depth of 2 feet.  All I had clear were my cutting board counter and the stove top that were clear most of the time.  I am so happy to report that we “passed” our home inspection.  Amazingly, ALL the counters are as clean and shiny as the kitchen sink!  And they have stayed that way for three months.  There is one stack on the kitchen table … but I’m not going to go to bat striving for the P word.

All three bathrooms, including his which I had been told to stay out of, are swished and swiped daily.  I have had to add “wash dialysis hose clamps in bleach water” to my morning routine.  That way, we never have more than 8 clamps needing to be washed at a time (we were given a box of 12 clamps).

We still have areas that need decluttering — but I am making progress on my stuff 15 minutes at a time.  And the hotspots stay cleared, which is amazing!  Now I just need to work out a home blessing plan.  I’m sure it will come.  With our trash collection day on Wednesday, we empty all trash and clear out the fridge on Tuesday.
