My Own Worst Enemy

Dear FlyLady,

I’ve got this month’s habit of being dressed to shoes under my belt so to speak so I’m continuing February’s decluttering as there is plenty of that still to work on around here.   I’m absolutely sold on wearing shoes all day.  They energize me.  I’m ready for anything, anytime.  I make sure to buy shoes that are comfortable and usually have a gel or memory foam insole.  My feet are happy.  They used to be so calloused and I had dry, cracked heels.  When I went for a pedicure, they used a razor tool to scrape off the callouses.  Now they are soft and pretty.  Before I put my socks on in the morning, I put a coconut foot creme with vitamin E on the heels and any other dry area.  That keeps them so nice and are part of my pampering.

Lately I’ve been working on PUPA.  Pick up, put away.  I’m my own worst enemy in this area but I’m making progress.  Whenever I’m wondering why the house is such a mess and why don’t other people pick up after themselves, I notice that I am the one who has let things go.  They follow me. And it usually just takes a few minutes to “straighten up” then it feels so much better here.  I set the tone for our household.  I’m also making an effort to use what I have on hand or is given to me.

I was given a half gallon of buttermilk.  Neither my husband or myself can stand to drink buttermilk so I put on my thinking cap.  We like sausage biscuits.  So this morning I made buttermilk biscuits.  The first batch was a crumbled mess (it has been awhile since I’ve made biscuits!) but instead of pouting, I decided to “Try, try again!”  Second batch was just right, able to slice to hold that round of sausage.  I’ll put them together and have my own sausage biscuits in the freezer for easy meals anytime.

PUPA helped me not to get overwhelmed with kitchen cleanup this morning.  (flour, rolling pin, stuff everywhere)  It was easy because I just kept after it.  Thanks for all your encouragement and practical keys to a more abundant life,

Okie FlyBaby
