Control Journal, Step 10: Master Grocery List

Thursday is our errand day. Do you have a master grocery list? This is your next page for the Menu/Grocery List section of your control journal. This is just a beginning exercise to develop your personal master Grocery List. Put this list into your Control Journal, even if it is unfinished. You can add to it at any time. Slide it into a sheet protector and you can just highlight the items you need.

Below is a list of subject headings. Take some time to brainstorm the things you normally purchase from the grocery store under those headings and write them down. With this list, you’ll be able to FLY through your grocery shopping and not get sidetracked, because you’ll know what you need!

  • Produce/Fresh fruit and veggies
  • Bakery/bread Items
  • Deli meats
  • Fresh meats
  • Frozen meats
  • Frozen breads
  • Frozen fruits/veggies
  • Frozen desserts
  • Other frozen foods
  • Canned foods (fruits, vegetables, etc.)
  • Beverages/juices
  • Boxed foods
  • Dried foods (beans, rice, fruit, nuts)
  • Pastas
  • Dairy products
  • “Staples” and spices
  • Baking supplies
  • Pet foods
  • Junk/snack food

Once you have created your master grocery list, you’re ready for step eleven!
