Getting Dressed to Shoes - No Matter What, No Matter When
Dear Friends,
I have found that having a new baby in the house, I really have to make sure that I get dressed to shoes no matter what and no matter when!!
There are days that I am really tired because of having to get up so many times during the night, and boy would it be nice to just stay in my pajamas all day. What I have found is that I stay tired if I do that. No matter how exhausted I may be - I make myself get dressed all the way to shoes. Even if I am "just staying home" and "no one will see me". Guess what... I will see me!! My older kids will come home from school and see me, my dh will come home from work and see me! It is not just that someone will see me or not see me, it is how I will feel. When you stay in your pj's and slippers all day you just feel sluggish and tired. You want to crawl back into bed because you are wearing the clothes that tell your brain to sleep!!
When you are dressed to shoes in clothes that are meant to be seen by the outside world (this means no sloppy, stained old sweats!) you feel diferently about your day. Those that are payroll flybabies that work outside the home have to get up and get dressed to shoes, so why should those that stay and work inside the home not get dressed to shoes. As FlyLady says - shoes tell your brain that it is time to go to work!
Another great way to practice our habit of getting dressed to shoes is to start wearing clothes from our closets that we seem to pass over everytime will pull out the same old outfits. Switch things up, mix and match and by all means toss things out if you don't like them or won't wear them!
Keep on practicing our habit for this month: Getting Dressed to Shoes! once you have done this for several days in a row - you will find it almost impossible to just hang out in your pjs anymore!
Love,
Kelly
