Marching Journey Down FlyLady Way!
March 14
Dear Friends,
Time to March ourselves into the home office again. Last week,
we decluttered the right side of our desks.... bet you can't guess
what the mission for this week is! Yep, you guessed it, time to declutter
the left side of our desks. Whatever is there that doesn't belong there
needs to go. Find those things a permanent home or toss them out with
the trash. Have fun and then step back and look at your newly decluttered
desk.
Love
FlyLady
Dear Friends,
If you are like me, you want to look good but not break the bank.
Money can only stretch so far, and with the rising cost of gas, along
with everything else, it can be much harder to do. MissusSmartyPants
is here to help you be beautiful on a budget!
So how do you stay stylish and on a budget at the same time? One thing
for sure, the fashion magazines aren't any help. I always get a good
laugh when I read the fashion magazines. They show fabulous "must
haves" to add to your wardrobe. Things you should run out and buyÉNOW!
ThenÉhere's the real kicker-- the good-looking pair of black pants are
$900.00! Are they mad?! I don't think that unrealistic price tag fits
into anyone's budget!
Since we don't have the bank rolls of Paris Hilton or Jennifer
Aniston, real dollar stretching help for style is essential. I have
put together "discount diva" tips so you can look great and keep your
beauty on a budget!
1. Shop the seasonal sales. I can't stress this idea enough! You may
not get lots of wear out the clothes right now, but you can really
save on jackets, sweaters or tank tops and sundressesÂwhatever is on
the rack at the end-of-season sales. Lots of stores already have
in-season merchandise on sale now. Stock up on basics and styles you
know you will wear. Do this every season and you will always be ahead
of the game.
2. Splurge on a nice purse or shoes. Buy quality shoes or a purse and
make any outfit look really chic. Check the sale racksÉyou never know,
you may find designer shoes that have been drastically marked down!
3. Avoid impulse shopping. Do a closet purge and be sure you buy only
what is on your basics listÂthe $20.00 blouse is not a deal if you
have nothing to wear with it!
4. Buy in-house brands. Try the brands from the department store.
Often they copy famous designers' styles. You will look really
chic--and save lots of money.
5. Get your hair styled. By keeping your hair looking current, you
look younger and more fashionableÂno matter what you are wearing!
6. Keep it neat. Make sure your clothes are neat and clean. Looking
nice and making some effort in what you wearÂmakes a BIG difference in
your overall appearance.
7. Keep a keen eye on sales. You never know where you might find a
great deal. Don't always shop at the same store. Look in different
places like: vintage shops, thrift stores, consignment shops, or
clearance centers. You may find something really different and unique
by going off the beaten path.
8. Shop online. Many websites offer specials online that can not be
found in the stores. Plus websites are keeping shipping costs down and
often offering free shipping!
9. Make sure clothes fit your body type. Don't waste hard earned money
on clothes that are not right for you. Be sure that you make the most
of your body type and dress with the right fit.
10. Wear jewelry and accessories to update your style. New fashion
jewelry can really update your lookÂat very little cost. Shop the "big
box" stores for the best selection of inexpensive jewelry you can
quickly add into your wardrobe.
These tips will get you well on your way to being your own "discount
diva"!
Love,
Leslie aka MissusSmartyPants
