Fitness Challenge Sign-Up Ends TODAY!
"Jonathan, I just wanted to let you know that I love your attitude -
especially the thought that being able to walk is a gift - what a
difference it can make to view moving as a treasure instead of a
burden! And it is so true.
I also wanted to say that I'm loving the intervals. It has made such a
difference to me, energy-wise, and I'm starting to lose weight. In
fact, I lost a pound in the first week, and a pound in the second
week. The intervals have punched up my metabolism enough to start
losing weight. Hooray!" - Patti

TODAY'S POST (Long, but Important to read): A Six Year Old's Sad Goodbye!
I am copying in an article I wrote last year. It is a motivating
article to read. It is not meant to scare any of you, but to help you
stay or get motivated and concentrating on your health and families as
you either start or stay on a workout routine. I am behind you every
step and am confident you can and will reach your goals.
A Six Year Old's Sad Goodbye!br />
While recently flying from Boston to Philadelphia I sat next to a
wonderful woman named Joyce who was probably in her mid-70s, and
clearly upset. When I asked her what was wrong, she told me that she
was returning to Florida after attending her "niece's husband's
funeral". He was only 44 years old.
Joyce was visibly sad recounting the experience of her recent trip:
her niece had been talking with her husband just one week ago when he
suddenly grabbed his chest and collapsed. He had suffered a heart
attack and the paramedics were unable to save him. The saddest part
was that he had left behind a wonderful wife and a confused 6 year old
daughter.
Joyce explained to me how her nephew was obese, had diabetes, and how
he "did not pay attention to his health". It broke my heart to hear
this story - I lost my own Dad to a cardiac arrest when I was 23 (he
was 61). He was an amazing man who struggled with his weight most of
his life and his health suffered. So I know first hand what it feels
like to lose a parent too early.
Unfortunately, most Americans do not pay enough attention to their
health. They are too busy juggling the stresses of life to eat right
and exercise consistently - the kids, the house, the job, the lawn,
the mortgage, etc. But the sad thing is if they were to improve their
lifestyle and maintain a healthy weight, all the other "important
areas" of their life would improve as well. They would have more
energy to play with their kids, they would be more productive at work,
they would be sick less, and most importantly they would be around for
their loved ones.
It is a common belief that your weight only affects you, but that is
not true. Your health plays a strong role in the lives of the people
around you: your friends, your loved ones, and your family. It may
not be fair to add more pressure to an already stressed life, but it
is important to the people who love you that you are alive and healthy.
A 2006 study done using data from The Framingham Heart Study (with
40,000 participants) showed that people who exercised regularly lived
3.5 years longer. This is scary, but it is true. So instead of
looking the other way when it comes to your health, take a hard look
at where you are and how you can improve your lifestyle to become
healthier. If you want to potentially live 3.5 more years longer,
feel more energy throughout the day, be an example of health to your
kids, and be around long enough to bounce your grandchildren on your
lap, than you owe it to yourself and your family to maintain a healthy
weight and stay active. Get started today!
You can visit www.MomentumFS.com to print out free highly-effective
cardio and strength training workouts. So get started today! Even
walking for 5 minutes a great first step towards improving your
health, so make today your January 1st! Have fun!
I hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend!
