Valentines Gift Ideas for Guys

  1. National Geographic Magazine Subscription and they have nice slipcovers to hold the magazines avaliable at www.nationalgeographic.com to hold them in his office to keep them neat and tidy! Very elegant. I am getting them for my love!

    Nashville, TN

  2. My DH wants cigars. Not a totally healthy request but it is clutter-free. They go in the humidor and then are used up. Works for me.

  3. Book of pictures of our daughters for his office so he can show them off!

  4. Dear Flylady,
For my dh he would like a new exhaust for his 01 Cobra, since I do not know anything about cars he will be getting a gift card so that he may purchase the parts that he wants

  5. A nice quiet evening with my girl, a quiet dinner at home, no kids making happy noises (these are THEIR OWN happy noises, but aren't happy to us!)

  6. actually i got this for my husband last year but he loved it so i'll tell you... he is an avid dirt track racer (3rd generation) and i'm always nagging him about loving the car more than me. last year i got old photos from his family of his families race cars through the years as well as took some of our kids on his car. I copyied them in black and white and put them in several black collage frames. I put them in an art nitch in our house along w/his trophy's he never had a place to display. this is especially for those of us perfectionist who often forget to let our spouses have their own space in our domains....let them have their own space...

  7. I have always made my guy a chocolate chip cookie using the whole mix to make a giant cookie, write on it my heart belongs to you. And I make him his favorite meal which is lasagna.

  8. I went with our 8 month-old daughter and had a picture of the two of us taken for my husband. Since I had a coupon and don't have to pay a sitting fee (bought a membership card when the baby was born), the total cost was $5. Now I just have to find a nice frame.

  9. FOOD!!! Make heart cookies on a stick (popsicle or lolipop), then arrange them in a basket with some foam. My sister in law and I are doing this for our dear husbands. We are decorating them with words like, true love, love you, forever and always, etc. They should love them!!

  10. I hang around with musicians, any one of them would love extra guitar strings (you have to snoop a little to find out what size they like) because they are always breaking and wearing out. Inexpensive, useful, no clutter!

  11. This may not seem romantic, but I'm decluttering the bedroom, a little bit each night. It won't be picture- perfect in a week, but at this point anything will be an improvement, and I'm sure my DH will appreciate it!

  12. A few years ago, I printed a list of everything I love about my husband. I cut the list into strips and folded them very small. I bought a Valentine tin of chocolates that he would like and put a folded strip under each chocolate (there is usually a pocket under the chocolate). He wasn't impressed with the gift until he started eating them and found the words of affirmation. He kept every one in the empty box when he was through.

  13. Hi!
I am making my DH a scrapbook called "What I Love About You"!

  14. My honey wants a new robe.

  15. My husband wants new tape for his handlebars. I've ordered him some new tape (hope it arrives in time) that has special gel pads as he usually complains about his hands hurting after long rides.

  16. My DH and I normally don't do much for Valentine's Day. We just do something small to show the other that we love them. We generally just get each other cards. My DH does get me roses normally too. So, this year I was going to get up early and surprise my DH with homemade blueberry muffins. I normally just make them the night before a vacation so we can just warm them up and eat before we leave. Or put them in a bag if we end up being in a rush. He tells me they are the best part about our vacations. So, I was thinking I could treat him to a small Valentine's Day vacation at home with blueberry muffins.

  17. Well,
This year I told my boyfriend to buy anything he wanted for himself up to $50.00 and I would do the same. So I went and I bought a FlyLady T-Shirt and The Commitment Chronicles. I'll wrap these up and give them to him the night before. He'll wrap his up and give them to me the night before. And then Valentines day we'll give each other what we wanted and maintain some of the "Surprise" because neither of us will know what the other wanted until they open it.
I used to just tell him what I wanted and vice versa but it wasn't exciting come present opening time.

  18. my boyfriend wants a wallet

  19. Dear flycrew
I'm going to write my husband's parents a Valentine's card this year. I bought it yesterday; "To my parents" type.
I'm going to tell them how their love (52 years) has flooded over into our marriage and how their love taught my husband to be a wonderful man, husband, father, etc.
I've never done anything like this, but in searching for my husband's card, I found one for them, and got the idea. Now I can't wait to write it. They will be really surprised, and appreciative.

  20. Every year for Valentine's Day my parents get my husband and I a gift certificate to the local video rental store. That way we are guaranteed a couple of date nights on my parents!
We look forward to it every year!

  21. Alone time with wife :)

  22. i LOVE valentines day!!
my BF loves krispy kremes and pizza so i am going to incorporate this. we are both vegetarians so we always go to our fave vegetarian restaurant on special occasions, BUT for lunch i'll have delivered to his office a pizza that says "i heart u". the "i" will be in olives, the heart will be in tomatoes, and the "u" in mushrooms. it will be from his fave pizza place (a small local place here) then after dinner when we get home i'll give him his 1 dozen krispy cremes and a red krispy creme t-shirt (red for valentines day and he works in a caual office and wears t-shirts everyday.) and, of course a mushy card to let him know how much i adore him and all he does for me every day. :-) he's not a materialistic person at all so this will be perfect.

  23. I don't have to ask him. I am married to "Super Dad," always giving his time to the kids - short on time for himself. I am taking the kids out for the day (leaving a hoagie and other 'guy food" for him) so he can work on his motorcycle in the shop all day, interruption and guilt free. After treating the kids for their day out and his day in, their dad and I are going to have our evening out. Everybody wins.

  24. He'd like to have his car washed & detail cleaned - think that's what I'd like, too!

  25. For Valentines Day I want to get my DH a compass keychain. I know that doesn't sound very romantic, but a compass always reminds of one of my favorite romantic poems by John Donne, Forbidden Mourning. Instead of buying a card, I think I'll write out the poem for hubby!

  26. well John and I met online--by accident--he is in california and I am in Virginia, yes very long distance... I am flying there next week to fix a special dinner and sing to him. I am a musician and well so is he---we are older -so we need more romance !!!I will have candles lit-- after dinner and watching a DVD of a Love story movie I have bought--I will use favorite oil and give him a massage.......happy Valentines day ! Hey I think every day should be sweetheart day !!!

  27. We keep celebrations to a minimum, especially $ wise. But last year, after my DH went to bed, I planted small kid type valentines all over his bathroom, closet, briefcase and car so that he was running into them all morning.
He loved it! In fact as a response, he went out and got the largest valentine card he could find - it was huge! and I still have it.
This year, since Valentines day in on a Monday, I'm going to pepper his office on the weekend as well. Everywhere he turns he will run into them! He'll never be able to forget that I love him!

  28. We have a local babershop group, they bring a box of chocolates, a card, a flower, and sing two love songs and take a photo.
They will come to the restaurant where we will be dining.

  29. I already know what my husband would like: I'm BO and he would LOVE just one day on the weekend when I don't wake him up with a long itinerary of where we're going for the day and/or a list of errands/tasks we have to do that day. He'd love a day to just DO NOTHING and have no plan!

  30. My DH wants a power washer or money towards new fork springs for his motorcycle.

  31. I learned a long time ago that something practical is the only gift for a guy. A friend gave me this idea and I thought it was brilliant. Purchase a nice wallet that you think your husband would like (doesn't have to be gucci) and fill with coupons made from you and/or gift cards for $5 at Starbucks, Blockbuster, a favorite icecream place, Specs, fastfood, and the list goes on.

    Flying for Valentines from TX

  32. My guy says he doesn't like Valentine's Day...he'd rather celebrate Groundhog's Day. Consequently, I've already given him my gift. (He does get me flowers and chocolate for Valentine's Day, though). I worked hard to try and think of something he would like rather than something I thought he SHOULD like. Since we had a break from the single-digit temperatures here in New England, and all the cars have been caked with mud and salt for weeks since before the blizzard, I washed his car for him. I think he really liked it!

  33. A certificate book has always been a good idea for men I think. Homemade ones are the best because they are cheap and you can personalize them
For instance say he always wants to go out for a night with the guys but you hate it.
-Make one for a guilt free night out with the guys.
Or you nag when he comes home late.
    -A nag free night.
    You never give him massages
-A free massage for 20-30 minutes or even an hour.
-A home made meal of his choice if you dont cook much.
-Any night he chooses to go out for dinner without the kids or something.
All depends on your personal debates and what not.

  34. For V-day, My husband and I usually by each other a new book or movie. My husband is a huge movie buff, this is something I know he will get many hours and years enjoyment.

  35. My guy loves electronic gadgets. Last year all he could talk about is getting a gps unit. This year he wants one of those combo cameras that have both the digital camera and a video recorder all in one and they are about the size of a cell phone.

  36. We have a FAMILY Valentine's tradition. We all get up bright and early and go out for breakfast as a family--this is something we only do on Valentine's Day so it is a treat. Although we have breakfast together as a family 7 days a week, it is special to have this take place in a restaurant. Our favorite part is that we are doing something consumable and not adding more clutter to our lives!

    MN Flyfamily

  37. A nice polo shirt.

  38. Hand wash DH's car while he sips a cup of coffee in a lawn chair...watch the little hearts flutter round his head! LOL! He may even shine your sink!

  39. I am making an "I love you jar". I've cut out hearts using red and pink construction paper. Then writing all the reasons I love him on each heart and putting them in the jar along with a few chocolate hearts. I've decorated the outside of the jar with heart stickers and pretty red ribbon. I think this gift would go for a guy or girl. Everyone wants to hear all the reasons they are loved!!!

  40. Dear Flylady; I am not sure how romantic this gift is, but I know my husband will like it... I am knitting him a pair of socks for Valentines Day. He is diabetic, and has found that he is more comfortable at night with socks on. However, purchased socks tend to cut off the circulation because "one size does NOT fit all." My handknit ones are designed to fit his foot, don't cut off the circulation, and make him smile.
Thank you for all you do. I just started a job a few weeks ago and was getting depressed that I could no longer keep up with my daily control journal. Now I am rethinking my daily routines and beginning again with baby steps. It is nice to know that FLYing works whether you are a stay at home mom, or a working one.

  41. Last year I cut out a big construction paper heart, folded it in half, and decorated the outside with glitter and "Why I Love [sweetie's name here]". Then inside, in tiny writing, I wrote all the reasons I love him around the shape of the heart until it was filled in. All kinds of stuff, like "Because you make me feel beautiful everyday" and "Because I didn't know for 6 years that you didn't like green chilis, even though I use them all the time" and "Because you always take out the garbage" and so on. He loved it so much he put it in his Bible next to our bed for safekeeping, and to remind himself. He also loved it because it was free, and it didn't even take me that long to do.

  42. Last year I got my wonderful Dh a gift card for a local gas station that he frequents to buy drinks. He goes daily so I knew it would be something he would love and appreciate and wouldn't be in my way. Now he's still using the card. He refills it monthly so he doesn't have to pay a dollar for a new one. This year finances are a bit tight so I'm making him a nice italian dinner with homemade chocate cake. I bought him a little box of chocolates and a note pad to write down his ideas (less than 2 dollars for both). We're going to put our DD to bed early and see what happens. I'm also going to make an extra special effort to be sweet to my sweetie.

  43. I am getting my DH a laser leveler to help with all the unfinished projects I started or bought for. This will reduce the piles of pictures in the garage, and beautify my home so it gives me hugs.

  44. To stay off the clutter path, my DH and I have always agreed that we don't give each other "stuff" on Valentine's Day. Instead, we do small, but meaningful, things for each other. He's made dinner for me, and I've had his car detailed, made his favorite dessert, taken him to a museum... This year, we'll be going to the Chicago Auto Show, since he loves seeing the latest model cars. It's not necessarily "romantic" but it says "I love you" all the same!

    With love,
    "Flybaby K in Chicago"

  45. Dear FlyLady,
First of all, as a guy, I would like to point out that all your readers are not women. Some of us guys are SHE's , too. As a single parent with two kids, a full-time job and a full plate of activism work as well as a household to run, I definitely value your site and email list immensely. (I'm also a newbie, but I am already seeing major differences in how effectively I manage things...for example, I've started a control journal at work with routines for when I arrive, after lunch and before I leave. Things have never been smoother for me at work!)
So...ideas for things I would like for Valentine's day:
    1) tickets to see a comedy show
    2) a starlight picnic of my favorite foods
    3) my date dressing up for me (So often people only dress up for "occasions" like a wedding where other people will see them. It would be nice if people put on their best clothes and looked spectacular for the love of their lives)
    4) things that cater to the "little boy" in me, like spending some time at a video game arcade or "grand prix" mini-car racing place

  46. Some of these are moderately prices. Some are FREE. Make REAL Mashed potatoes, A backrub, polish shoes, clean ties, new boxers or jockeys, bleach T-shirts, Dinner in for TWO. Go to a game with him. Have his friends over for a game with snacks. Have his car detailed. Match up all those "lost" socks. Tell him what he means to you.

  47. Hi FlyCrew, My husband likes scotch. So this year he will be receiving the scotch which is recommend to go with Columbian coffee, to warm the palate, and finish with bittersweet chocolate. He loves receiving different brands of scotch. It makes for a nice relaxing evening!

  48. My husband would LOOOOOOOOVE a dozen of his favorite golf balls for Valentine's day! He asked me for them!

  49. A true redneck Valentine's gift - My sweetie said he wanted a "4-inch Magniflow exhaust system" with a "chrome 5-inch tip"....like I could actually figure out what this was!!!

  50. My dh wants a pocket compass, and so do I, so we're going to exchange the same thing!
