Valentines Gift Ideas for Guys - Page 4

  1. For his birthday, I gave him an iPod. He absolutely loves it! For Valentine's Day I am buying some of his favorite CDs from the past to down load onto his iPod.

  2. I keep it simple for Valentine's Day. Past Valentine's Days I have gone to the bakery and bought lovely chocolate dipped strawberries for about $1.25 a piece. Do you know how many chocolate dipped strawberries you can buy for the price of a dozen roses--Too many for a couple to really eat. I have also made a candy tree for my husband--decorating it with tulle-wrapped Dove candies. If he has mentioned a particular book, I might get that. I usually try to plan a nice, quiet dinner for two AT HOME from appetizers to dessert.

  3. I talked to some mutual friends and my husband wants a specific book.

  4. My husband likes to get homemade pies (and a romantic evening ) for Valentines. I make the crust, use Granny smith apples with a streusel top. The way to his heart is with food!

  7. 15 yo ds wants a rooster.

  8. He's getting the usual; a pleasant dinner with his DW and tickets to an Academical Village People (extreme acappella from UVA) concert

  9. My husband would like a nice pair of cuff links so he can wear his new shirt with French cuffs. He will get them.

  10. Listening to "The Mom Show" this past Thursday and the guest was talking about working on your relationship on a daily basis. She suggested wrapping a nice negligee as a present for your husband as 'his' gift. She also talked about leaving cutesy notes on his car set and writing with lipstick on the mirror. She had a great point about being conscious in saying "I love you" and how powerful that can be in a relationship.
I plan to have a co-op dinner on Saturday with 4 other couples to celebrate "Valentine's Day" (champagne included!) and then I will take a very pretty but never worn silk night dress and wrap it up for my hubby.

  12. Dearest Fly crew,
Yesterday my DH and I were talking about gifts for Valentines Day. I had been wanting a new pendant and we were busy looking on line to see what my choices would be. This morning I was listening to the radio and they were talking about how much need there still is for the tsunami survivors. The next program was talking about I Corinthians 13, The chapter on LOVE. Well they were saying how it doesn't really matter what you do if you don't do it with love. At that moment my selfish want of a new pendant struck me and how the need was there and at this time of year when we want to show love that I really wanted to show Christian LOVE to those poor people who lost everything. I went downstairs and told my husband we have so much and I NEED nothing but your love lets donate the money we would have spent on the rather expensive pendant to http://www.resources.imb.org/worldhunger where 100% of it will go to the victims. This is a bit of a carry over from our rather new tradition (2 years now ) of donating the money it costs to feed a family of 5 Christmas dinner for each one of our 3 children since we are a family of 5. Oh don't be thinking we won't celebrate I will make a special dinner for the 2 of us and we will enjoy staying at home and counting our blessings.

  13. I am giving my man a gift certificate for a massage. He loves them!

  14. I'm going to buy him a nice looking wooden hamper to match our bedroom furniture.

  15. I think what my DH would really like is a day to himself!
As women, we are always trying to find those few minutes to ourselves. I think our gentleman friends have the same problem!
As for my hubby...he works odd hours so that I can work in the mornings. He takes care of the kids from when they wake up until noon. Then he goes to work, comes home around 10pm, has a bite of dinner, and goes to bed. There's not much time just for him. He usually has "guys night out" once a week, but that isn't really time to himself either! *lol*
So I am going to plan a day where he has the day off, and I will take the dd (5) and the ds (2) and we will make ourselves scarce!

  16. Dear Flylady and crew;
I think every guy would love
    1) a gift certificate for a car wash
    2) a gift certificate for an oil change
    3) a gift certificate for his favorite coffee shop
    4) a night of 'action' movie rentals (fill in whatever you dislike, western, war, etc.) with no complaints from you!
    5) if he has a shop, does it have a fire extinguisher/smoke detector?
    6) a homecooked meal full of his favorites (especially if you dislike/rarely make something)

    Hope this helps

  17. asked my hubby what he wanted for Valentine's Day -- anything at all -- and he said that he already had everything he wanted.

    Thank you Flylady!

  18. Dear Fly Crew,
My DH has a very special meal that he loves. It takes a long time to prepare, mainly because I'm not very efficient at it. We never exchange true Valentine gifts, but I always make him this special meal this one time a year to let him know how special he is to me.

  19. My dh would like either a romantic dinner of steak and shrimp or a soldering iron. (LOL)

  21. My DH used my broom outside. I was complaining so he said he would buy me a new one for Valentine's Day. Then we started talking about a red broom with heart stickers on it. You could even put streamers on the handle. Sparks, Nevada Flygirl

  22. Mu husband said all he wanted was a KISS. I plan to give him many.

  23. My husband tells me the perfect Valentine's gift for him would be a gift certificate for a massage (we have a family friend who's a massage therapist, and we often give each other gift certificates for massages--so maybe not the most creative idea, but honest!).

  24. I'm getting my husband at least a gift certificate to his favorite cycling store. He love's anything to do with long distance endurance bicycling! Such as cycling shorts (do you know how expensive they are?!), bike parts, jerseys, even a 5 day trip in October to the ruggedly beautiful Big Bend in the southwestern part of Texas near the Mexican border!

  25. Dear FlyLady & Crew,
I think it's wonderful that you're focusing on loving each other and showing kindness to people in our lives this month. Many people really enjoy Valentine's Day, and I'm happy it makes them happy. However, it's not a beautiful thing for all of us. DH and I don't really "celebrate" this day at all. Nine years ago, his infant son was murdered on Valentine's Day. This was before he came into my life, but I still grieve with him for a little boy I'll never know. Our first Valentine's together, I gave him two red roses: one in memory, and one in hope for a family we might someday have together. Since then we've decided not to have children, but I still give him the roses.
On a somewhat more cheerful note: last year, not being entirely willing to give up the opportunity to spoil him just a little, I bought the new wireless PS2 controller he'd been eyeing, wrapped it up and presented it to him "early," proclaiming "Happy February 12th!" No, there is nothing "special" or "significant" about February 12th, but do I really need a reason?

  26. A nice dinner out (with or without the kids)

  27. He asked for high-end guitar strings. I asked him why he doesn't just buy them when he needs them. He said they're a bit "spendy".
I bought a dozen so he can change them everytime he wants to and not wait. They aren't that expensive and he blesses us and others with his guitar playing.

  28. I asked him and he wants to come home from Iraq and spend the weekend in bed.

  29. 10 lb box of $5.00 bills.for dh
a box of butter cream chocolate from see's candy. ds age 14

  30. This year I am going to get my husband sessions with a swim trainer. He runs marathons and has done two triathlons, but feels that his weakest area is swimming. I'm going to find him someone that knows how to help him get stronger in this field. This idea could be used for just about any sport.

  31. My hubby had been eyeing an AIR COMPRESSOR in a local discount store, and on our last visit there he commented that there was only one left.
That did it! I knew he REALLY wanted that air compressor! So when we were on our way home from running errands today I said we needed to pick up a gift at that particular store, and the gift was for him. He looked puzzled until we stopped in the hardware department -- right in front of a BIG RED AIR COMPRESSOR. My handyman husband, (who can fix anything -- just ask the grandchildren) got his Valentine's Day gift a week early, and it was just what he wanted!

  32. A gift certificate to go toward a new golf club(s)

  33. I write a little note to my DH everyday and put it in his lunch box. Sometimes he has time to write back, sometimes he doesn't. BUT when I clean out his lunch box it is always there. So, do I throw them away? Nah...I save them in a cheap-o photo album (that I leave under my control journal near the kitchen message center) so that as I take them out of the lunch box I slip them in the page. I will be giving him this photo album with a love note on the front page telling him that if he ever feels like I don't love him, or I don't appreciate him, he can open the book and read it, in black & white (or color & stickers)!!! That I do, I do, I do, I do, I do, I do!!!

  34. How about a certificate for a weekend car rental. What guy wouldn't like to take a nice SUV up to snow country or drive through the desert in a convertible? Plus, you might get a ride too.

  35. This year I sent my DH a Curly Lucky Bamboo plant from Hallmark. Last year I sent him a Bonsai Tree. I have them delivered to his office. He loves them because they a little to no hassle for him.

  36. Shakespearean Valentines Present
One year I gave my husband a pound of flesh. In the spirit of “The Merchant of Venice” I gave my husband my heart. You see I am no good at exercising and so I gave him the ownership of my heart muscle. I actually exercised a little more regularly.

  37. Last Monday at dinner, I told my 3 children we'd have a special dinner on Valentine's day. Their special assignment for the week was they had to make a Valentine card, by hand, for their Papa and it had to say something meaningful inside about what he does for them. Imagine the grumbling--it went on and on! The 4 year old started right away, stuffing her envelopes with drawings of Papa doing stuff for her. She used a ton of tape. Last night, I found the 12 year old composing a haiku about him and hid it in her desk drawer after the decorating was done. The 16 year old is still mulling, it's killing him (or so he says) but he thinks he'll use one of his drawings from Art class with a special message. I have loved seeing them wrestle with this all week. As I told each one when they came individually to further complain because they "didn't know what to do", he just wants something from your heart. I'll be very happy setting the table for Papa Monday night. What a big mush he'll be!

  38. I just find that you just have to think about what any person (man or woman) likes to plan a great gift. If you know that, gifts are usually easier. My husband likes to read about Ireland and Science, he like to play music and he love sports and spend time with our family. For Valentine's day I might buy a movie we would like to watch together. I could get him a book, new drum sticks or tickets to a sports event. We might go for a family hike. I have found that concentrating on the person, rather than the holiday makes it easier.
Showing that you know the person you love is a great gift in and of itself. It also leads to a lot less clutter.

  39. I asked my dh what he would like for Valentine's and he instantly replied, "for you to be happy!" That's a gift I can certainly give him. He's one of those BO people, but a super help around the house and is so happy when I FLING things!

  42. Dear Flylady,

  43. He said he wants his wife!
    Wooohooo!

  44. I asked my DH what he wanted for V-Day, knowing that we have several out of town trips and other money costing things planned in the next few weeks. He said that since we were going to be in Kansas City anyway, all he wanted was dinner at KC Masterpiece! (He LOVES good BBQ, and they're the best!)

  45. a tractor inner tube

  46. I plan on giving my husband a massage for Valentine's Day. He works so hard for us and I make it a point to express my gratitude on a daily basis, though some days I am definitely better at it than others.

  47. DH said he would like a breed specific dog book.

  48. He wanted a new paper towel holder. I have already bought it for him.

  49. I bought my DH a new 15" LCD TV that will sit on the kitchen counter as we like to watch it over morning coffee or while making lunch. The old one would often change the channel when he would press the volume control. It was not a good thing!!It will look beautiful a few feet away from my shining sink!!!

  50. year before last: A huge home-made card with the words spelled out with candy bar names. For example, Your the greatest guy in the "Milky Way" ... your whiskers give me "Snickers" ... I'm so glad you didn't slip through my "Butterfingers." It was a huge hit when I delivered it to his work.
Last year: A personalized tag for his truck.
This year: Get his truck detailed - it's really dirty - ick!
Or: Gift certificate for music store. (That's his boring idea!)
