Dear FlyLady,
I live in Australia and also have a Hills Hoist clothes line, you can wind it up or down and it spins in the breeze.
I have three sons and my absolute favorite job is the laundry. I only ever wash when its not raining, as soon as socks, underwear, sheets, towels are dry I fold them up outside and place in laundry basket and wheel inside, then put them straight away.
I hang all tops and shirts on coat hangers on the clothes line, when dry I hang them straight up in the wardrobe, except for any that need ironing. They remain hanging on an indoor clothes rack until ironed. Long pants are hung from the cuffs and require less ironing, I do not have and ironing basket.
My favorite is to wash the sheets and remake the bed the same day, at night you can smell the sunshine on the sheets. If raining I have a pergola which I place a clothes horse on wheels, at night I just wheel the clothes horse inside.
Hope this is helpful.
FlyBaby Georgia
Dear FlyLady,
I am a new flybaby of just a few weeks, I am mother to 3 furry children (2 dogs and 1 cat) and a 2 year old not so furry child.
My husband works away a lot leaving me with a great excuse as to why I don’t get things done and why my house looks like a zoo.
But I have been mistaken and it took a few days of reading your e-mails before it really sank in. I never thought it would work and that once I got one area completed, the others would be a mess.
However my sink is still shining every morning and I move on to the next zone with pride and forgiveness of myself saying “I am not behind, I don’t need to catch up” want to thank you for you kind advice and loving words.
I have some advice to share as well.
During my WHBH I found myself forgetting which task was next so I came up with an acronym of sorts.
I made the sentence “Don’t Stop Woman (on a) Mission To Flybaby Victory.” Each letter D, S, W, M, T, F and V stand for each task in the WHBH.. D=Dust, S=Sheets(Change sheets), W=Windows, M=Magazines(purge), T=Trash, F=Floors(mop) and V=Vacuum.
