Several years ago, I had three inch pile of emotion laden paper. In short, it had become a “ holy relic” of pain and self esteem.
(Depending on what it was.) The elephant was beginning to fossilize.
Finally I simply recognized it as such, and set a goal of one paper per day. ( Monday through Friday.) I gave myself permission to know it was a special pile. My achievable goal was to pick up one and only one piece of paper per day, ( Monday thru Friday) and do something with it. Most were thrown away, some were burned, and others moved in financial records, or where they should be.
Reality: I was not only decluttering this pile, I was processing my feelings. Life had come at me fast, I was catching up…. I witness the great power of good intentions put into motion, however slow.
FlyBaby Red Bird
Dear Fly Lady,
I moved to my new house 2 years ago when lots of building jobs were still not finished. Gradually everything was done and the house was fresh and clean but keeping up with the chores was a bore.
It is a 3 bedroom house and I live alone and am retired. I am naturally tidy but even so things were starting to get on top of me . I then, accidentally, discovered your website. It was such an inspiration. I confess I do not follow everything but I ‘jump in ‘ as you suggest. The place gleams most of the time and looks like a show house with little effort. I love your hotspots idea. I love watching your videos on and off and I once did all my ironing listening to your (recorded) radio program!
So all in all, thank you for your website and the motivation it gives me when I need it.
All the best to you and keep going.
Hope in Yorkshire, UK
