Dear FlyLady, 25 years ago, when we moved into our home, DH put up some shelves in the basement because we had almost no storage in the kitchen. These shelves are sturdy, industrial-type metal shelving, the kind you have to bolt to the wall so they don’t crash down on you. Needless to add, I NEVER dusted or swept underneath them. In fact, I almost never cleaned the utility side of the basement at all! Fast forward to yesterday. I’ve tried to add the basement to my routines, and even though I only think to clean it once every month or so, the litter pan is changed every week, and I keep up with Mt. Washmore. Since I was down there yesterday, and it was looking pretty bad, I decided to give the laundry area a good sweep, scrub the utility sink, etc. Somehow I got the bright idea of using the Dryer Vent Brush to clean under my pantry shelves. OH MY!!! 25 years of cat and dog hair, dust, junk, dirt, etc., etc. I couldn’t believe what I dug out of there (including several cat toys, a couple of golf balls, some change, etc.). Even though no one will ever see under my pantry shelves, I felt really proud of myself for cleaning underneath them. Warmly, |
