Dear FlyLady,
I am so thankful for your system! I have been fluttering for about a year now and really appreciate the daily emails to keep me on track. The routines have been key to my growth!
One thing I cannot figure out is how to swish the toilet daily with two little ones at home. We have three bathrooms and the children thought the toilet brush was a hairbrush one day last fall. Therefore I do not have a toilet brush out and now use the Clorox disposable toilet wand. This is way too expensive to do on a daily basis. Any ideas how to make this work with toddlers in the house?
Sincerely,
Fluttering in B’ham
Dear Fluttering in B’ham,
I can empathize with your problem; we have a new puppy and everything is a chew toy to her. It is really hard on us too. We have had to learn to keep our bathroom and closet doors shut.
As for your toilet bowl brush; you are going to have to make a place under your sink to hide it from the babies. Get some of those baby-proof door locks. I just did a search on Amazon and sorted the search by the best reviews and found some nice ones that use 3M adhesive for Command Hooks. This means when your babies get older; you can remove them easily without damaging your cabinets.
Now get a plastic vase to store your toilet bowl brush in. It is just a place to hold your Rubba Swisha while it is wet. I use old shampoo and body wash that I don’t like to clean my toilet. I would keep it in the squeeze bottle or just use some cheap dish soap.
Pull out your Rubba Swisha and squeeze a little soap into the toilet and swish it! Then wipe down to seat with an old wash cloth or baby wipes. You may need to wipe the floor too if you have little boys.
You will need to keep these tools in each bathroom in your home. In order to Swish and Swipe each bathroom every day; go potty in a different bathroom each time. It only takes a minute to swish and swipe. Be sure you are drinking your water. This will ensure that you get to every bathroom.
Nothing says I love you like a clean toilet when your family gets hit with a stomach virus.
