Rather than Watching the Pot Boil

mop packageDear FlyLady,

I’m a full time caregiver to my dear husband and dear mother so routines are squeezed in between “nursing” care.  The other day, my carpet was begging to be vacuumed but my husband was needing/wanting a cup of hot chocolate.

I put on the kettle and rather than “watching the pot boil” I plugged in the vacuum and did the entire house in the time it took the kettle to whistle.  DH was impressed and I was surprised.

WOW! Because of walkers, wheelchairs etc… I have to keep clear paths constantly so that’s not much of an issue but the hot spots and “mount cluttermore” is. Most of this stuff has homes but because of medical equipment blocking the “front” doors of their homes they got piled outside… to say the least, it’s depressing.  I’m working one stack at a time at finding new homes for them that is easily accessible.

Thank you for encouraging me to keep working at this 15 minutes at a time.

FlyLady here: I am so proud of you! Using your tea kettle as a timer is a brilliant way to get things done. I often us my coffee brewing as my timer to get my floors mopped. If you make it fun it will get done! We love to play games with ourselves!
