My New Friend Called me Organized

Dear FlyLady,

I just had to write and tell you about the most wonderfully encouraging complement I received the other day! I have been flying since October 24, 2008 and have worked hard on incorporating the ‘Do It Now’ principle into my daily life. I’ve gotten pretty good at putting things away as soon as I have finished using them (I once used my blow-dryer to dry my body and then couldn’t find it when I was ready to dry my hair because I had already put it away! LOL!).

I was at a bible study with a new friend the other day and stood waiting for her to find her name tag in her tote bag (I had mine ready to go because I always put it back in my notebook at the end of class). After rummaging through her bag a minute or so, she looked up at me and lamented, “I wish I was as organized as you are, Jennifer!” I was so shocked to hear such a thing said about me that I burst out laughing! I told my friend that it has taken me 20 years (babysteps!) to get to this point and I still had a long way to go!

The next day I was having lunch with my BO sister and related the story to her. She immediately burst out laughing too! She remembers how frustrating it was to share a room with me when we were growing up. We had a good laugh together. My sister has seen the changes in me and in my home and is very proud of me and my progress.

Thank you so much for helping me understand the “Do It Now” principle has made such a huge difference in my life: I can always find things when I need them. I even came up with my own extended version: “Do it Now! There is no such thing as Later, only Now. If I put things off until Later, I only succeed in creating more work for myself Now.” We never know what the future may bring, so let’s not assume we’ll have time to do things later, why not do them now?

Celebrating my progress in TX,

Flybaby Jen J

FlyLady here: This is such a good feeling! I am so proud of you for taking those babysteps!

The “Do It Now” principle can change your life! You will even surprise yourself.

When I used to be on lots of boards I had a tote bag or an office in a bag for each of them. This is how I had every thing I needed for that meeting.

Getting organized is all about having what you need when you need it and knowing when to be there.

Put it on your calendar and get the things you need in one spot!
