I’m so excited already for the focus on meal planning this month. I don’t like to stick to a predetermined daily meal plan, but I made a list of everything in the freezer and decided on meals to make with that. So now I’ve got a list of dinners that I can choose from and mark off as they get made. Each morning I just think about what we’re in the mood for and make sure everything’s thawed and ready by that evening.
It’s only been 3 or 4 days, but it’s already saving me money! My boyfriend works a weird schedule and sometimes he’s not home until 7:30 p.m. Those nights tend to turn into “uh just pick something up on the way home.” But having the meals planned has helped fix that, because I’ve already got things in mind instead of going to the kitchen as 6 p.m.and feeling too exhausted to think of something.
AND today was my grocery shopping day and I spent about half of my budget since I knew what I had at home, so I wasn’t impulse buying random meal components.
