Make FLYing Fit Your Lifestyle

Dear Flylady,

I am amazed! I have been fluttering for a few months now, and have been building basic habits & routines. Just baby steps, but they have been making a tremendous difference in my home & schedule. I had not yet tried the home blessing hour, mostly because I didn’t believe I could really do it in an hour. You see, our entire house has laminate flooring on both floors, and it seems to take forever to sweep and mop it all. But I decided to just take the plunge and try it today.

I rearranged the tasks a bit to fit my home (I skipped the magazines since we don’t get many, and I prefer to wash and change my sheets on a different day), so I was able to assign a bit more time to the floors, and kept everything else more or less the same. I then set my timer for each task, & got everything done in about 50 minutes! I was amazed.

Always tempted to be a perfectionist, I kept hearing your statements in my head as I was dust mopping: “Just get the middle of the floor”, “You don’t have to do it like your mother did”, “Progress not perfection”, “Housework done imperfectly still blesses the family”. Though it wasn’t done perfectly, it was done – and probably wouldn’t have been otherwise. At least not until tomorrow when I’m expecting company, and then my stress levels would have gone soaring.

Thanks so much for all you do!
