Dear Flylady,

I have been a flybaby for years, and I still read your emails every single day. I just love them.

Anyway, I’m writing you today to talk about FLYing With Children, which I’ve heard a lot of members ask about in the past.

We have the basics… because we all do our Before Bed Routine, we all know where our things are and never have to spend time in the morning searching for keys, backpacks, cellphones, or shoes. Thanks for that.

The other morning, we had about 10 minutes to spare before we had to leave and my 6yoDD said “mommy, can I vacuum my room?” And the perfectionist in me wanted to say “Are you crazy? You can’t vacuum in there, there are toys everywhere and you can’t vacuum in a room that isn’t picked up.” I heard your voice though, which whispered through my “perfectionistic” thoughts… “only the middles, housework done incorrectly still blesses your family, make it fun and it’ll get done” so I said yes to her, just not to run over any Toys, and guess what? She ended up picking up her room as she vacuumed LOL.

I feel like anyone can follow directions… shining the sink, making the bed, getting dressed to shoes, and decluttering for a few minutes per day are just directions after all, but thank you for the changed mindset. Once the mindset changes, everything else falls into place.
