Dear Flylady,
I have been following you for several years now and I will never forget the day my daughter came home from school and discovered we had a white sink.
My husband is a coffee drinker. We have an old, supposed to be white porcelain kitchen sink in the house we rent. Not a good combination. I pretty much gave up because the sink habit just wasn’t sinking in-lol. Growing up our sink was always full, so I never developed good habits.
One day I took the challenge to get our sink all scrubbed, polished and shiny. Bar Keepers friend, elbow grease and a magic rag are amazing tools for this job.
My DD came racing in like she always does after school, she was probably 7 or 8 years old at the time, stopped dead in her tracks, her eyes wide with amazement and exclaimed, “Mom, I didn’t know our sink was white!”.
Talk about an Aha! moment for both of us! Then she raced off to something else, but I stood there dumbfounded.
Who knew something so simple would make that kind of an impression.
They really are watching and learning.
She cleaned her room for the first time without being asked this week – like you say there is a shiny sink in every room- her bed was made-coincidence? I think it was connectedness. Thank you for all you do to help our families FLY.
Flying slow and steady, L
