Dear FlyLady,

Today we hosted a family get together for my son’s birthday. Everything went well. The house was clean, thanks to keeping up with my routines.

Everything else fell into place without a hitch because I planned everything out by creating a mini party control journal. I felt so happy to have created special memories for my little son that were hardly any stress to me.

But I’m writing about swishing and swiping in July.

Our home has two bathrooms: the guest and the master. I did a very thorough swish and swipe of the guest bathroom, which included wiping down the switch plate, the door, and hiding the kids’ bath toys. Thorough, but not much more than 5 minutes of work. For our master, I considered a more thorough s&s for there, too. But I thought “Why? I do a swish and swipe here every day. It looks great and who uses the master anyway?”

Well, you guessed it. Without permission, my dad waltzed right into our bedroom (also clean thanks to the bed being made first thing daily and routine hot spot fire drills throughout the room!) and used our bathroom.

While asking first would have been nice, I wasn’t mortified over a dirty bathroom in the least! It was company ready. Thanks for helping to keep me on track!
