Dear FlyLady,

I found Flylady back in 2003 and have fluttered off and on for years. Paper clutter is by far my worst nightmare. I travel every week for work, so over time, my home office has become a squirrel’s nest of epic proportions for paper – travel receipts, meeting notes to file, mail and forms that my DH needs me to deal with, and the piles of 2 DDs’ school papers that I don’t get to see during the week. Yes, I’ll admit to the “I don’t have time” excuse (whining) often crossing my lips. Every once in a while, I get an “at home” week and will do some shoveling out, but it always ends up being the easy stuff so that what’s left are the piles of difficult items. Like antibiotic-resistant bacteria after repeated doses of penicillin – they’re really tough to kill off!

This month, I’m forcing myself to tackle those tough paper projects. Instead of my usual rearranging of deck chairs on the Titanic, I’m CALLING the attorney to make the appointment to get the updates made to our wills (sticky note from two years ago), and scheduling a Saturday morning ON THE CALENDAR with DH to pick a color for the living room walls (an inch of paint sample books, undoubtedly filled with colors they don’t actually make anymore, but it’ll be close enough). It’s slow going, and I won’t be done by the end of the month, but I’ll have momentum to keep up this new habit and finally fly my way to some PEACE!
