I had thought when I sent you my first testimonial it would be about your amazing, wonderful, miraculous purple rags. I use them for EVERYTHING and although I have, by now, nearly ALL of your tools, these still top my list. But, something happened today that I just had to share because it was so awesome. 🙂
Tuesday is my day to do the “dusting” portion of my home blessing. Little by little, I’ve learned to embrace your philosophy of “good enough is good enough” and “housework done incorrectly still blesses my family”. I’m learning to let go of my perfectionism. My 4-year old son LOVES to “help” me with housework and I used to discourage him because… well… he’s 4. But hey, it’s dusting, right? You can’t really get that wrong. So I asked him if he wanted to help. He gave me an enthusiastic “YES!” So I showed him the FlyLady Feather Duster and the FlyLady Dust Mitt and told him he could choose which tool he wanted and I’d use the other one. He chose the feather duster, and we started upstairs and worked our way through all the rooms, then downstairs. Oh, my goodness, we had so much FUN! He was dusting everything in sight – things that didn’t “need” dusting – but he was having so much fun that I just let him get on with it. We laughed. We ran outside to “bless the world” and then did a duster high-five! Then we went back inside, and I was totally satisfied with what we had done… but he wasn’t! He kept running around the house finding more things to dust. Then he’d go back outside to bless the world, and back inside to dust some more. When you say “make it fun and it will get done” you sure know your stuff. Tomorrow is my mopping day and he is excited that I’ve said I would love his help. Who cares if it isn’t perfect? I never imagined housework would bring so much joy! A happy FlyBaby and HER FlyBaby in Texas
