My Shower is Shining today!
Courtesy of today’s mission and an anti-procrastination task, my shower is shining. Before today, there was soap scum build up on the glass shower doors and a brownish ring of soap and dirt building up around the shower drain.
I used a baking soda and vinegar paste on the glass soap scum before rinsing, drying, and treating the glass with a surface protector that repels water and dirt. The protector helps to make water “bead” on the surface and keep the soap scum at bay. It should be reapplied once or twice per year but I had been putting off this task probably for about 2 years until today’s “shower curtain” mission came up.
The brownish soap scum ring I had previously tried dish soap and scrubbing with a toothbrush: having read that marble tiles need to be treated carefully without very abrasive cleaning products. It did not work very well.
So for an anti-procrastination task today I wet the floor of the shower, squirted a pH neutral dish soap liberally over the marble tile and used a microfiber cleaning rag, like your purple rags, to scrub the tile with my foot. I used a dry microfiber rag to stand my non-scrubbing foot on for traction. It worked! And it was easy, kind of fun! I think I can add this task, dish soap and foot wipe/scrub, to the monthly cleaning task for the bathroom zone. Maybe it would be even more fun using a pair of old socks as “shower socks” to scoot around the shower floor. Looking forward to trying it next month!
And I definitely spent a good 10 minutes admiring my Shining Shower afterwards and writing an email to my mother to celebrate the success.
