Dear FlyLady,

For a long time I’ve wanted to tell you how much you helped me with my family and marriage.  In 1999, somehow I found you.  I had a husband who made great money but had become an alcoholic.  I had 2 boys to raise, and he wasn’t helping because he was either drunk, verbally abusive to us, or working.  I stayed because I didn’t want the boys to be raised in a broken home and the money was good, BUT I slowly started making plans to survive until my boys reached adulthood.  I did things alone with the boys, made sure to attend all their sporting events, and shielded them from a drunk father.  My husband became addicted to prescription drugs, which only made things worse.

Fast forward 10 years, my husband hit rock bottom and went to rehab.  I still was a flybaby, kept my house in order, all the while hearing your voice “Baby steps, Carol” and “One day at a time”. I kept the laundry done, held sometimes two jobs, and maintained our life.  Husband made it out of rehab, I’m still a fly baby, and husband is finally sober and clean.

My boys are now out on their own, I’m still married after 32 years, and husband finally expresses how glad he is that I stayed in the marriage and held our family together. Thanks to Fly Lady, I cannot thank you enough.  I don’t know what would have happened if you had not been there for me.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
