Dear FlyLady,

I was actually excited to get your email telling me to shine my sink yesterday! I fell into a bit of a slump during the holidays and had trouble even getting out of bed on most days. After the new year I looked around my normally organized and CHAOS-free home and it was in shambles. I felt more overwhelmed and depressed than ever and almost climbed back into bed.

Instead I went straight to the kitchen and told myself “The best way to start out the new year is with a shiny sink.” It didn’t take much to get it sparkling again and doing it gave me enough motivation to start taking down the decorations and do 15 minutes of decluttering in my dining room.

My house is no where near where I’d like it to be yet but I’m taking it one day at a time and staying out of bed! Reading your email put a smile on my face because I already had the job finished and I’m ready for the next task! Thanks for inspiring and encouraging me, your words ring in my head even when I’m no where near my computer.

You have helped me get on the road to recovering from depression and reminded me that every day is a new day, I just have to start right where I am.
