Dear FlyLady,
I am a 60 year old Mom of 2 grownups, work part time and have struggled with consistent routines my entire life. I recently did a weight loss program that helped establish new eating habits over the past 2 years and felt I COULD change and establish other improved habits. I am kind of a neat freak, but have no routine for housework, or home maintenance. I just see what needs to be done and do it, however when my life gets busy, things fall apart. That’s where you come in.
I’m am a newer Flybaby and wanted to share the changes I’ve made so far. Your idea of taking one small step at a time makes so much sense to me, so I started with the habit of shining my sink (which includes no dishes haha) every evening and have been able to maintain that for a couple of months. This month I’ve been working on the bedtime routine and simplified it and surprisingly have been able to sustain that as well. I edited it to a 3 step process, floss teeth, wash face, shine sink and that has worked for me. The tiny, easy steps toward making a new habit is BRILLIANT! Once one habit is in place you can build on it. I have incorporated the Monday Blessing too. I love that you encourage people to make the system their own, no “all or nothing” thinking. On the road to finally loving myself.
Thank you for sharing your ideas!
