Dear FlyLady,
I’m a brand new fly baby. I’ve not even been flying for two weeks. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I’m learning already! As a professionally diagnosed perfectionist I could not understand how perfectionism got my house into the stated of clutter I’m digging out of. I needed my therapist to explain this to me and he did. Not only do I suffer from perfectionism, OCD and moderate anxiety plague me as well. Unfortunately my DSs and DH are polar opposites so I’m struggling a little with what seems a lack of appreciation by adding or replacing clutter.
However, despite the amount of clutter I have to work with, following the plan as closely as I possibly can is making drastic improvements and helping me feel better about my home already! I have to make a few adjustments but I’m creating a schedule that works for me. I love home blessing day. Considering it a blessing makes me feel better and have a better attitude about doing that cleaning. Sometimes I either have to do it on a different day or spread over two days but it still gets done.
On Mondays I work two jobs and do not get home until minutes before I plan to go to bed so I either do half Monday and Tuesday or just push it to tuesday. The first home blessing day was hard. I live in a big old farmhouse so I only did half of the house on almost everything but I was determined to stick with it.
This week I started at the opposite end of the house and worked my way back to the other end. The improvement is amazing!! I never thought I’d enjoy cleaning the house but then I’ve always enjoyed a structured list on how to do things so this is perfect!
Thank you so much fly lady for showing me the way!!!
