IMG_5645Dear Friends,

February is Declutter for 15 minutes, and we are going to take full advantage of our time. Monday through Friday this month you will get a new Declutter Mission that follows the Zone we are in. If you have a declutter story or an idea that you have found to be useful please send us an email with MY DECLUTTER STORY in the subject line!

February Declutter Mission:

No mission today, take this time to Renew Your Spirit!

Dear FlyLady,

10 years ago, my daughter moved back home with us during a rough patch and an unplanned pregnancy.  Our family room became a nursery-living area for her and her new babe.  This summer she bought a home of her own and moved out.  We had a closet that we hadn’t touched in those 10 years because we simply couldn’t get to it with all the mess.  This Christmas, I took a week off of work to clear out some of the stuff we hadn’t touched in 10 years.  We used our Christmas tree for the first time…among other things.  When emptying out the closet and regifting suits, dresses and coats that hadn’t been worn and were like new, we found a curious garbage bag with something wrapped in bath towels.  About 7 years ago, my DH’s lovely aunt passed away and everything with any of a religious hint was handed to us to dispose of or use as we saw fit.  I had completely forgotten that there were 2 pictures from my husband’s grandmother’s bedroom that had been tossed in a garbage bag and handed to us.  I put them in the closet not knowing what to do with them.  The ‘mystery’ bag contained two gorgeous framed pictures of Mary and Jesus.  My husband took one look at them and marched upstairs and hung them in our bedroom.  It was like looking at Gramma’s room from many years ago.  What we noticed on the back of the picture frame was a hand typed note.  It was a love note, written by Gramma’s father from Austria.  These pictures were a wedding gift to her almost 100 years ago.  So — our decluttering mission not only gifted the Rescue Mission with warm coats and suits, it gifted us with a treasure from my DH’s past and loving reminder of his own Gramma’s loving family for us to treasure and share with ours.

A FlyBaby
