Dear FlyLady,

The first time I had my own bathroom and a kitchenette was in 1999, at 37 years of age!

The mother of mine, a mentally ill mother, bless her heart, did not know how to keep the house clean. Her bed was always disorderly as was the rest of the house.

Little did I know that following your morning routine of making the bed the minute my feet hit the floor I’ll get better. When my bed is not made, I’m feeling sick.

Then, you said to clean the bathroom thoroughly. What? I journaled about it first because the horrible memories scared me: clogged and overflowing toilet, dripping to the lower floor of the apartment building, newspaper pieces for toilet paper…no tub or hot water.

Not perfect but my own bathroom looks clean with shining sink and faucet. And I can take a hot shower! You told me I deserve it.

Finally, now that I have a full kitchen, I’m learning to clean the sink, set the coffee at night to brew for I and my hubby 1st thing in the morning.

Then, you said to do a load of laundry a day. I set it right after I get up. It’s typically done before I leave for work. I set it to dry when I get home from work.

I’m finally FLYing, FINALLY LOVING MYSELF. I didn’t know I can. Thank you for encouraging me to FLY.
