Dear FlyLady –

I am just at the beginning of this journey and was in danger of quitting before I even began.   You see, I am one of those people you’ve mentioned who was disturbed by how many emails I’d get from you in one day.  I thought “This is ridiculous. I don’t have time for all this.” and was ready to unsubscribe.  Then, as I started reading a tidbit here and there, something dawned on me. My anger towards all the emails had nothing to do with you or your emails.  In reality, my procrastination made them accumulate into an overwhelming mountain of unread messages.  My perfectionism made me think I had to read every word in each one and watch every moment of each video before I could delete it.

Now I just scan the subject lines, open the ones that pique my interest, and delete the rest. Yes, I feel a twinge of anxiety every time I hit the delete button, but I think it’s helping me achieve a healthier mindset.  Next on the list is getting the dishes out of the sink so I can actually shine it!

It’s been a rough start, but I have faith that focusing on baby steps will get me to where I want to go.  As Kris Kringle sang in Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town….Put one foot in front of the other and soon you’ll be walking ‘cross the (clean!) floor…”
