Dear FlyLady,

I had something finally stick in my mind this morning and I owe it all to you!  Within the last year, my oldest daughter got married and my other daughter went off to college.  So what I didn’t see coming was the empty-nest syndrome.  It really brought me down and I struggled each day to find my new groove.  I have never been the best housekeeper (just when company was coming and then too exhausted to enjoy entertaining), but I always thought if I could just clean all the time I would have a clean house and feel fulfilled.  Actually this mindset of perpetually cleaning kept me so overwhelmed by the thought that I never even started.

At a friend’s home this summer, I saw this beautiful feather duster on a chair and asked her about it.  She said it was her FlyLady feather duster.  That reminded me of your website that I had checked out last year.  I had loved the idea of FlyLady cleaning, but guess I was just not motivated enough to jump in.  I’m happy to report that I have jumped in and it has been such a weight off my shoulders.  I feel like “I” am in control of my home and my thoughts and it is the  incremental baby steps that keep me sane.  You have helped me identify that I am a perfectionist and how I can undo that mindset.  Just swishing and swiping lifts my spirits.  I am so grateful to you for direction in housekeeping.  I actually do see how my house is actually cleaning itself.   I used to view housework as mundane and drudgeries, but thanks to you I find joy in my WHB and Daily Missions, Morning Routines and Before Bed Routines.   Also, “Jump in where you are”, “You can do anything for 2 minutes”, “It doesn’t have to be perfect”, “1, 2, 3, Go”, all stay in my head throughout the day to keep me on track.  Thanks for all you and the FlyLady Crew do to keep those emails and daily videos on time, on target! Thanks for helping me find peace of mind in my home and looking forward with confidence to the next season in my life.
