Dear FlyLady,

I’ve never been one to make my bed.

When I get up in the mornings, I usually close my bedroom door and just ignore the unkept bed and clutter. I’ve been getting your emails for over a year. When I first started out, I was doing my daily routines daily. I stuck with it for months.

Then we moved, I found out I was pregnant, and we had a ton of work to do on our new home all in a month. I fell off the wagon. Our beautiful baby girl was born via C-Section five short weeks ago.

During my recovery time, our house was a disaster! Our older two children tried to help out as much as possible, but the majority of the work fell on me since dh works very long hours 7 days a week – and I was simply too exhausted and in too much pain to do much of anything. I recently got back on the wagon.

The habit of making my bed has changed me!

I don’t make my bed as soon as I get up, but I make sure I get it made as soon as I get home from dropping the kids off at school. After making my bed, I feel more encouraged to get other tasks done after completing my morning routine. My dh is enjoying it as well. He loves climbing into a nicely made bed every night. And I’m sleeping better as well – well, when the newborn allows it.
